Last month, our friends at Haiyya organised a "Youth Climate Resilience National Meetup" for three days where they invited climate justice activists/organiser from different regions (North, East, South, West, Central) of India with an aim of building regional and national solidarity and strengthen climate movement in India.

The three days have been a space for knowledge-sharing, peer learning, strengthening relationships and building collective power.

Space for Peer Learning

The participants got a chance to learn regional specific issues (mining, pollution, climate-disasters, climate education, organic farming, climate adaptation) from each-other. The space has also allowed participants to understand diversity and intersectionality of climate justice issues.

Space for Knowledge Sharing

The participants have learnt about climate politics using examples of #SaveAarey #StopAdani #SaveMollem and other regional movements- they have also learnt about strategies to make our activism more safe, secure and sustainable in physical and digital spaces.

Space To Build Collective Power

The participants have learnt to assess needs and map resources- and the cohort has offered their resources (time, skills, networks, support) to two campaigns Save North East Campaign (who're working with flood affected communities in North East) and Safai Sena (who're working to secure waste workers rights in Delhi)

How We Are Involved?

Last year, we've been selected for this programme (Haiyya Youth Climate Resilience Network) where we've received training and financial support which has helped us to sustain and scale our work.

This year, our team member Vijay is steering committee member and chairperson to this programme- he strongly believes programme like this is very important for young activists especially who comes from low-income communities and marginalized identities.

Interested In Learn to Organise?

Our friends at Haiyya is organizing a five days workshop title "People Power Change" from November 21-25 which aims to equip young people with relevant tools and knowledge of the people-power approach to organise their communities to drive progressive change.
